Every little thing's gonna be all White Chapter 1: "Owning your Masters"
In the Season 6 Debut, Henry K explains the meaning and importance of "owning your masters" and why it's the catch phrase for a new generation looking to take creative control not only over their work, but over their lives. "Owning your masters," it even sounds powerful, like reckoning or reclamation, and it kind of is. It is the reason why 30 years ago the revolutionary singer Prince, wrote the word slave on his face, and changes his name to unpronounceable symbol. It's why even today, an unlikely rebel named Taylor Swift is re-recording and re- releasing her entire early catalog, of songs she signed away the rights to when she was just a starry eyed teen. Every little thing's gonna be all White Chapter 2: "Murder Love(A-side)"
In the summer of 1993 there was no reggae song making people dance like the hip hip infused dancehall club banger titled Informer, and no reggae singer tearing up the international pop charts like a 24 year old white reggae rapper form Toronto Canada Darren Kenneth O Brian, better known as Snow. When the label decides to produce the follow up album in Kingston, The stage was set for an Irish hoodlum and his gang of thugs to descend onto a 3rd World country to wreak havoc. Enabled by managers and record companies willing to give him anything, and do whatever it takes to get a hit. The question is what is Henry K willing to do? Rootsland's Greatest Hits "Zion in a Vision"
In the music business when a band or group releases a greatest hits project it usually marks the beginning of the end, unless you're the Eagles, but we are still early in the story. Maya Angelou said it best "You really can't know where you are going until you know where you've been." As we move forward to the next chapters in the Rootsland Saga scheduled for release in early December, things are gonna get pretty intense in Kingston. So after 50 + chapters we figured this would be the right time to reminisce and look back at some of our favorite moments, music and people that helped inspire the story up until now.
